After living in Europe for 9 years, I moved my base to Japan. I'm living in Tokyo since December 2023. (5 January 2024)

Obtained the diploma of Master of the music (orchestral conducting) from the Royal Conservatory of Mons in Belgium, the Diplôme d'études musicales (DEM) of orchestral conducting from the Conservatory of Lille in France. (23 July 2023)

Obtained the Special Prize of the President at the 6th International Composition Competition "Artistes en Herbe" in Luxembourg. (3 April 2023)

Biography

Born in 1989 in Nagano, Japan. Tetsuya Yamamoto has 3 masters: Two in the composition from Kunitachi Collage of Music in 2014 and National Conservatory of Lyon (CNSMDL) in 2019, and the other in the orchestral conducting from Royal Conservatory of Mons ARTS² in 2023. In addition, he obtained the diploma of Cycle de perfectionnement of composition from Conservatory of Marseille in 2017, and DEM of orchestral conducting from Conservatory of Lille in 2023.
In these educational institutions, he studied composition with Motoharu Kawashima, Michio Kitazume, Régis Campo, Philippe Hurel and Martin Matalon, studied orchestral conducting with Laurent Goossaert, Alexandre Bloch, Federico Tibone, Rémi Durupt and Nicolas Krüger.

Yamamoto has received several awards: Prize winner at the 4th Young Composer's Competition for the concert "Joe Hisaishi Presents Music Future Vol.9" (2022), 1st Prize at the 9th International Piano Competition Smederevo Composition Category (2022), 1st prize at the Musica Prospettiva "shortones" call for composers (2021), Prize Winner at the "Prix Vedrarias Musique 2020", Composition prize André Chevillon - Yvonne Bonnaud at the 14th International Piano Competition of Orléans (2020), 1st prize at the 13th International Composition Competition "Francisco Escudero" (2020), 3rd Prize at the 1st International Composers Competition "New Music Generation 2019", 2nd prize at the 14th/16th Chengdu-China "Sun River Prize" Students' New Music Composition Competition (2018/20), Prize winner at the "Île de créations 2018" composition competition by the Orchestre national d'Île-de-France, 2nd Prize at the 4th International Edison Denisov Young Composers Competition (2016), 1st Prize and Special Prize at the 6th International Antonín Dvořák Composition Competition (2015), Prize Winner at the 27th JSCM Composers Award (2010), etc.

He has participated in ARCo Academy 2023 in Marseille, Sävellyspaja International Composition Masterclass in Helsinki and Porvoo (2023), Ensemble MotoContrario International Composition Masterclass in Trento (2021), Barcelona Modern International Composition Course (2020), Takefu International Composition Workshop (2013/14) where he studied composition with Francesco Filidei, Yann Robin, Sarah Nemtsov, Henry Fourès, Eva Reiter, Jukka Tiensuu, Tomi Räisänen, Stefano Gervasoni, Alberto Posadas and Misato Mochizuki. And also his works has been performed in several festivals: Festival Music From Japan in New York (2017), Japan Saxophone Festival (2017), Basklarinet Festijn in Utrecht (2016), Ryogoku Art Festival in Tokyo (2015), Bowling Green New Music Festival in Ohio (2014), Asian Composers League Festival & Confarence in Singapore (2013), Thailand International Composers Festival (2013), Suntory Summer Festival in Tokyo (2012) and Festival 5 Giornate in Milan (2011). He was featured in the program of Radio France "Création mondiale" with his orchestral piece "In the circle..." in 2018.

He is a member of the "Association Franco-Japonaise de la Musique Contemporaine". After living in France and Belgium for 9 years, he moved his base to Japan since September 2023.
