Born in 1989 in Nagano, Japan. Tetsuya Yamamoto studied composition with Motoharu Kawashima and Michio Kitazume at Kunitachi College of Music. He also studied the piano with Satoko Inoue, the technique of conducting with Masakazu Natsuda, and the Shō which is Japanese traditional instrument of Gagaku with Mayumi Miyata. He obtained his Bachelor in 2012 and Master of Music in 2014 from the Kunitachi College of Music. He has continue studying with Régis Campo at Conservatoire de Marseille since 2014, also studying with Philippe Hurel at Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et Danse de Lyon since 2016.
Tetsuya Yamamoto has received several awards: Finalist at "The 38th Valentino Bucchi Prize International Composition Contest" in 2017, 2nd Prize at "The 4th International Edison Denisov Young Composers Competition" in 2016, 1st Prize and Special Prize at "The 6th International Antonín Dvořák Composition Competition" in 2015, Representation from Japan at "The 31st ACL Festival & Conference in Singapore Young Composers Competition" in 2013, Finalist at "The 9th Thailand International Composers Competition" in 2013, Prize Winner at "The 27th JSCM Composers Award" in 2010, 1st Prize and Special Prize by the Mayor of Hirosaki at "The 8th Hirosaki Cherry-garden Composition Competition" in 2010 (President Jury: Hifumi Shimoyama), etc.
He has participated in IRCAM Mani-feste Academy (2017), World Saxophone Congress "SAXOPEN" (2015) and Takefu International Composition Workshop (2014, 2013). And also his works has been performed in several festivals: Festival 5 Giornate (Milan, 2011), Suntory Summer Festival (Tokyo, 2012), Thailand International Composers Festival (Bangkok, 2013), Asian Composers League Festival & Confarence (Singapore, 2013), Bowling Green New Music Festival (Ohio/USA, 2014), Ryogoku Art Festival (Tokyo, 2015), Basklarinet Festijn (Utrecht, 2016), Festival Music From Japan (New York, 2017).
He is a member of the "Association Franco-Japonaise de la Musique Contemporaine".
